Off-duty EMT, nurse save overdose victim from vehicle in ditch

The driver was given naloxone and transported to a hospital; she will be arrested on charges of felony bail jumping

BURKE, Wis. — A woman was saved from an overdose after an EMT, a nurse and a deputy found her inside her vehicle in a ditch.

Wisconsin State Journal reported that witnesses called 911 to report a swerving vehicle.

“Deputies located the vehicle in the ditch near Rattmann Road and Bull Run Road,” Lt. Krista Ewers-Hayes said. “No crash occurred but the driver was found inside the vehicle, and deputies noticed the female passenger was unconscious.”

The EMT, nurse and deputy administered three doses of naloxone before she was transported to a hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested on DUI charges.

The woman will be arrested upon her release from the hospital on felony bail jumping charges.
