SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — An EMS agency who refuted claims of a hit-and-run incident was cleared by police of any wrongdoing.

According to a Facebook post by EMS of Georgia, an investigation was launched after Laura Norton accused one of its staff members of hitting her car and taking off.

“From the beginning we stood behind our employees and immediately began an internal investigation,” the Facebook post said. “In addition, we cooperated and worked diligently, over the past several weeks, with the Sandy Springs Police Department regarding this investigation.”

The post continued and said “EMS of Georgia has been fully cleared of any involvement concerning the alleged hit-and-run” and said the agency was informed by the police “that the case is now inactive.”

“Safety, of our patients, paramedics, EMT’s and the communities we serve, is our number one priority!” The agency said. “We fully supported our paramedic driving the ambulance on that day and are glad to know that this was indeed a case of mistaken identity. We were also glad to hear that Ms. Norton was not injured in the incident and hope that the real party involved is found and justice is served.”
