RIVERVIEW, Fla. — Volunteer EMT Chris Simko remained hospitalized Monday with serious head injuries and broken bones after being knocked off his motorcycle Tuesday by the driver of a gold Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck.

The accident occurred about 10:30 p.m. at the corner of U.S. 301 and Balm Riverview Road. Simko was traveling northbound and the driver of the truck was traveling southbound. The truck made a left turn from U.S. 301 onto Balm Riverview Road and struck Simko’s 2005 Harley Davidson.

“I woke up and I’m in the hospital, not knowing where I was at,” he said. “My jaw is broke. I’ve got plates on my jaw, scrapes on my elbows. I’ve got stitches on my elbows and all the tendons in my left knee are ripped.”
