ELIZABETH, N.J. — Colleagues and friends launched a GoFundMe page for a New Jersey EMT who suffered two brain aneurysms while on duty.
According to the Daily Voice, Yojany Mejia was at work when she suffered two aneurysms. EMS providers transported her to JFK Medical Center, where she underwent surgery.
The family posted an update on her condition on Facebook.
“Well, the good news is they were able to stop the bleed,” the post read. “However, we still have to wait out this week because she’s not out of the woods yet, the bleed was very bad, and there’s a lot of swelling in her brain that they have to try to control, so they are going to keep her in this medically induced coma for probably two weeks. Now they are going to monitor it they wanted to deal with the larger one first because it had already done so much damage.”
