KODIAK, Alaska — Firefighters overcame the dangers of a cliff and an incoming tide to rescue a woman who fell 60 feet off of a cliff onto the rocks below.
Maria Pestrikoff was texting on her phone while trying to throw a cigarette butt over a cliff when she slipped last week, according to the Associated Press.
A friend heard her screaming and called for emergency responders.
When firefighters arrived, Pestrikoff was only 10 feet away from the incoming tide. Crews strapped her to a stretcher, brought her up the cliff and transported her to the hospital.
