Ohio firefighter dies of H1N1 flu virus

PHILLIPSBURG, Ohio — A Phillipsburg firefighter has passed away after contracting the H1N1 flu virus. Friends and fellow firefighters are organizing fundraising events to benefit his family.

Art Springer II, of Miamisburg, died Jan. 23. The former Phillipsburg firefighter was 45-years-old, according to his obituary.

The visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 1 at Living Hope Church.

Springer's friends and fellow firefighters are planning a fish fry March 1.

"We are still holding this and other fundraisers to pay for Art's final expenses and to provide a trust for his 13 year old daughter," according to the event's Facebook page.
