Ga. firefighter back to work 3 months after brain tumor

During his recovery, every firefighter throughout the department signed a T-shirt wishing him a speedy recovery

CONYERS, Ga. — About four days after doctors removed a tumor from firefighter Jeremy Richardson’s brain, the 27-year-old called his fire station to get a report on how much fuel the station had in reserve, one of his job duties. He then called headquarters to report the amount. His co-workers laughed and shook their heads in disbelief when they heard his voice on the phone.

“He’s a fighter. He’s been mentally strong through this whole thing and he’s always had a positive outlook on it. I can’t recall one time he’s emotionally broke down. He’s an absolute rock,” said co-worker Frank Palombo. Richardson, who has worked as a Rockdale County firefighter and relief driver for four years, underwent brain surgery in May and returned to work in September. He is currently on light duty at the fire department headquarters.

“We’re just absolutely blown away at his drive and determination to come back,” said Palombo.
