Idaho paramedic killed in crash on way home from work

Ada County Paramedic Kody Hansen was less than a mile from his home when a driver passing a truck struck Hansen head-on

ADA COUNTY, Idaho — A head-on collision on Jan. 4 resulted in the death of an Ada County paramedic who was on his way home after work, according to the Idaho State Police.

Ada County Paramedic Kody Hansen was less than a mile from his home when a driver passing a semi-truck collided head-on with Hansen’s vehicle, KTVB reported.

The Idaho State Police said the other driver was flown to a local hospital.

Ada County Paramedics told CBS2 that their Peer Support Team has been made available to their personnel, including additional services provided by the Ada County Employee Assistance Program.

“He would talk to me a lot about when he would get those moments where he would save someone’s life,” Hansen’s brother Kyden James told KTVB.

A GoFundMe has been created to raise money for Hansen’s wife and three daughters.
