BALLWIN, Mo. — Funeral details have been released for a West County EMS and Fire Protection District firefighter who recently died on duty.

Fellow firefighters found Sean McMullin, 46, unresponsive shortly before 1 p.m. Sept. 24 at Station 2, 13790 Manchester Road, officials said.

McMullin worked 14 years with the department. He was a firefighter and paramedic.

“Firefighters put their lives on the line every day to protect their fellow citizens and willingly give all they have for our residents,” Chief Ernie Rhodes said in a prepared statement. “Sean did that and more each and every day of his career.”

Regarding specifics of the death, Rhodes added: “No further details regarding this matter will be released and we ask that you honor those wishes and respect the privacy of our departed brother’s wife, children and extended family.”

A visitation will be held 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Stygar Mid Rivers Funeral Home and Crematory, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 1355 Motherhead Road in Cottleville. Burial will follow at Saint Philippine Catholic Cemetery, 4057 Towers Road in St. Charles.
