Las Vegas, NV, September 9, 2015 – Ferno, a global leader in emergency pre-hospital patient handling equipment, has chosen the Code Green Campaign as its philanthropic partner during EMS World Expo 2015 happening in Las Vegas September 15-19, 2015. The Code Green Campaign raises mental health awareness of first responders and educates responders on how to not only provide care for themselves, but recognize struggles among their peers.

As part of the partnership, Ferno is giving away Code Green Campaign t-shirts to the first 500 people who visit Ferno Booth 1111 at EMS World Expo. In addition, Ferno is donating $1000 in support of the campaign.

“Mental health awareness is important to the EMS industry and all first responders because the rates of mental health problems and suicide are so high, on par with that of active duty military,” said Ann Farina, President of The Code Green Campaign. “This is why having the support of a broad range of companies, like Ferno, is so critical to getting our message out there. Ferno’s support is allowing us to reach thousands of people we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to reach,” she added

According to statistics provided by The Code Green Campaign, approximately 15-20% of firefighters and EMS personnel suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). So far this year, there have been 81 documented suicides in first responders, about one every 2.5 days, according to Farina.

The Code Green Campaign derives its name from the code alerts used in EMS to designate an emergency patient. Be sure to visit Ferno Booth 1111 at FDIC 2015 to get your free Code Green Campaign t-shirt and visit the Code Green Booth 1712 to learn more about how Code Green is helping save live.
