LAKEVILLE, MN – The Ventura County Board of Supervisors has approved a contract with ImageTrend, Inc. to implement a new electronic patient care reporting (ePCR) system to replace the 12-year-old system currently in use. This contract is the result of extensive review and collaboration required to source the right vendor capable of streamlining emergency data reports.
The new system will integrate fire departments, ambulance companies, hospitals and other public and private emergency services within the county and will allow emergency responders to enter data on wireless tablets carried in the field using ImageTrend’s Field Bridge and TapChart utilities. ImageTrend’s EMS Service Bridge software will also close loopholes in the data flow of the current system and make patient care reporting in Ventura County more efficient with a centralized, Web-based data warehouse.
“We’re very fortunate here in having a very collaborative system,” said Steve Carroll, the county’s emergency medical services administrator, in an interview with Tony Biasotti in the Ventura County Star. “Other counties aren’t so fortunate. You have patients who are treated by the initial fire department which has their own reporting system, and then they’re put into an ambulance that has its own reporting system, and that creates the potential for errors.”
The continuity between first responders, fire services, ambulance services and hospitals that ImageTrend’s software provides will simplify reporting emergencies and tracking patients by delivering a complete, singular chart from every service involved, regardless of their affiliation. Hospitals will also have access to trauma and STEMI (ST segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction) registries, allowing integration with pre-hospital information. ImageTrend’s software solutions unify emergency services with an advanced data collection, analysis and reporting system.
The upgrade will cost the county roughly ten percent less annually than the current system and is likely to be in place by early next year.
