CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Fire Department and area public safety agencies responded to a school bus crash in Charlotte, N.C., Wednesday.
According to reports, paramedics and firefighters were able to treat, stabilize and transport 36 injured patients to area hospitals in about 30 minutes.
Officials said that all passengers aboard the bus were able to escape the vehicle.
Charlotte FD members were the first to arrive on scene and requested a second alarm assignment, which brought more than 45 responders to the scene.
Charlotte FD used a MAB Evacuation/ Mass Casualty Vehicle, from N.C.-based Sartin Services, to treat and transport patients. This type of vehicles was also used in flood response in N.D. in March.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Headquarters also responded to the scene.
