WILSONVILLE, Ore. (July, 2014) - SAM Medical Products and Tribalco are pleased to announce the selection of the SAM Junctional Tourniquet (SJT) to be included in the Department of Defense contract for the Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) Casualty Evacuation (CASEVAC) Sets. Tribalco, LLC was awarded the contract for the TCCC CASEVAC Program, # H92222-10-D-0023. The CASEVAC set combines patient access capabilities, mobility, and critical care components unique to supporting soldiers in far forward and austere environments - areas where definitive medical support is not available. The contract is a 5-year IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity) contract and will provide an initial operating capability to the Department of Defense.

The SAM Junctional Tourniquet has received 510K clearance for controlling inguinal hemorrhage, axilla hemorrhage, and pelvic fracture stabilization. Built upon the design of the SAM Pelvic Sling II (with over 250,000 patient treatments worldwide since its inception in 2003), the SJT stands alone in versatility, size and weight as well as rapid application time to achieve hemorrhage control (less than 25 seconds in most cases). The SJT is designed to control bleeding where standard tourniquets would not be effective. Such wounds are typically junctional in nature, such as a high level leg or arm amputation as a result of an IED blast injury or serious motor vehicle accident. Pelvic fractures are often associated with these types of injuries, and the SJT also stabilizes pelvic fractures.[1]
