MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — An off-duty EMS supervisor is being hailed a hero after saving a driver who went into cardiac arrest Tuesday morning.
Bethesda Magazine reported that the Montgomery County EMS supervisor was driving home when he saw another driver leave the road near an intersection. The supervisor stopped his car, got out and called for help. When he saw the driver was in cardiac arrest, he started CPR.
When responders got to the scene, they defibrillated the driver, who survived and was transported to a hospital.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Pete Piringer said it was “very fortunate” that the supervisor was on scene.
“It’s our responsibility. We’re public servants. If we can help and we can do it safely, then we will,” Piringer said.
