Colo. medic sentenced for attempting to shoot girlfriend

He will serve up to 10 years in prison for the assault charge

ROSCOMMON, Colo. — A Houghton Lake paramedic was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for trying to shoot his girlfriend.

Edward Perkola pleaded no contest to charges of assault less than murder and shooting a gun in a home, UpNorthLive.com reports.

His girlfriend was not directly hit but was transported to a hospital. Police say the two were arguing and alcohol played a factor.
