QUEENSLAND, Australia — In an effort to ease the pressure on paramedics, callers to 000 may soon be refused an ambulance if their case is deemed to be too frivolous.
Frustrated by thousands of callouts for ailments such as paper cuts, sleeplessness and toothaches, the Queensland Ambulance Service is looking at ways to prevent its paramedics being tied up by time-wasters.
Yesterday it launched a 000 community awareness campaign to educate people about the appropriate use of the number.
