RAMAPO, N.Y. — An EMStar paramedic driving an ambulance was injured after a collision with a minivan.
Paramedic David Weismandl was trapped in the unit after it flipped and landed on its side following the crash at 12:55 p.m. Sunday. He was pulled from the vehicle by responders and taken to Westchester Medical Center after complaining of chest pain, The Journal News reports.
The two people in the minivan were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for observation.
In a statement EMStar CEO Joseph Zupnick said he was thankful Weismandl was not more seriously injured. He said the ambulance was not transporting any patients at the time of the crash.
Ramapo police are investigating the crash, and ask that any witnesses call the department at 845-357-2400.
