HAMILTON, Canada — A statue is getting a lot of attention from Hamilton paramedics after they asked citizens to alert them if they saw people out in the cold.
The statue in question looks like a person wrapped in a blanket and sleeping on a bench. It’s the “Homeless Jesus.”
The Toronto Sun reported the sculpture was created by artist Timothy Schmalz and copies are present in Michigan, Phoenix, Washington, Chicago and Ireland.
Hamilton Paramedic Service operations supervisor Edward Harris said concerned citizens are calling emergency services mistaking the statue for a real person.
Hamilton Paramedics tweeted, “Thanks to those who reported someone laying out in the cold, thankfully it’s the ‘Homeless Jesus’ statue.”
