Tenn. man accused of spitting on paramedic, attempting to kick police officer

A man was arrested and charged with assault and other offenses after reportedly being combative with first responders

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Tennessee man has been charged with assault and other counts after allegedly spitting on a paramedic, trying to punch him and attempting to kick a police officer.

Danny Juan Olguin, 54, was found injured after police and EMS responded to a report about an assault on Friday night, WATE 6 reported.

As AMR paramedics were transporting him to the hospital, Olguin reportedly began arguing with providers and taking off his seatbelts.

He then allegedly spat on the chest of one of the paramedics and attempted to punch him. When the Knoxville Police Department arrived to aid the ambulance crew, he allegedly tried to kick a police officer, as well.

Olguin was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and two counts of assault.

Details about the previous reported assault were not available.

According to Knox County Sheriff’s Department records, Olguin is currently out of custody on general release.
