WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — A Pittsburgh police officer is accused of assaulting an EMS provider at a concert at the Pavilion at Star Lake on Sept. 21.

A Hanover arrest report states that off-duty officer Chas Kulow and his girlfriend were attending a Five Finger Death Punch concert. At one point, Kulow’s girlfriend was being treated by EMS providers who reported that Kulow was aggressive, uncooperative and appeared to be high or drunk, KDKA reported Thursday.

When EMS providers tried to remove the off-duty officer, they said he threatened them, and they called for police assistance.

The unnamed girlfriend was transported to a hospital. After that, EMS providers said that Kulow returned to the EMS area and punched a provider in the face.

When police arrived, they found concertgoers holding Kulow to the ground and arrested him.

Kulow was transported to a hospital for evaluation, where he became belligerent and disorderly with hospital staffers and Weirton police officers, according to the police department. He was later charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police said Kulow has been put on paid leave.
