TEXARKANA, Ark. — First responders made a miraculous discovery in a storm drain following a car crash Friday.

A family was driving on an interstate when a truck hit their car, causing them to flip, reported CNN. During the crash, an 8-month-old girl was ejected from the vehicle, but victims of the crash could not find her.

Firefighters searched the scene and surrounding area when they heard a faint sound more than two dozen feet away. They found the infant in a storm drain, uninjured, with only some minor scratches.

“The baby … was sitting up and looking up at us waiting for us to pull her out,” firefighter Josh Moore said. “There had to be some kind of divine intervention for her to end up OK.”

Officials believe the infant rolled down a hill and landed in the drain. She was transported to the hospital, where she and the four other crash victims were recovering. Everyone except the driver has been discharged.

“So many time, we go out and things aren’t OK … and just during the holidays here to have a positive just feels good,” Texarkana Fire Capt. Charlie Smith said.

It was reported that the infant was not properly restrained in her car seat at the time of the crash, nor was the car seat properly installed. No citation was issued.

The driver of the truck was cited for an improper and unsafe lane change.
