PORTIA, Ark. — An off-duty fire chief helped save a child that was choking Thursday morning.

KAIT8.com reported that Portia Fire Chief Greg Duckworth said a 4-year-old boy was choking in the morning at his school. Chief Duckworth, also a school board member, was there for a board meeting.

When the special-needs child started choking, a staff member ran to get Duckworth. He then dislodged the gummy bear he was choking on, according to the report.
