PORTLAND, Ore. — An 8-year-old girl was found not breathing in bed with a balloon over her head just hours after her birthday party.
Fox News reported the girl’s father went to check on her about 20 minutes after she went to bed and found her with her foot sticking out of the blankets and the balloon over her head.
The father cut the balloon off and immediately began CPR until responders arrived and continued trying to revive the girl for nearly an hour. The family believes the girl may have tried to suck the helium out of the Mylar balloon.
The girl’s death has been ruled an accident and will not be investigated.
