Some parents took children to be checked for injuries, in addition to the three taken by ambulances

HAUGHTON, La. — Authorities say a car crashed into a stopped Louisiana school bus and lodged underneath it, injuring both people in the car and at least three students.

State Trooper Matt Harris tells The Associated Press a father and daughter were in the car. He says in an email that all the injured are in stable condition.

Harris says the bus stopped to pick up students and was hit shortly after 7 a.m. Monday in Haughton, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) east of Shreveport.

Harris says some parents took children to be checked for injuries, in addition to the three taken by ambulances.

A photograph on the KTBS-TV website shows the car’s roof off and the front half crumpled.

Bossier Schools spokeswoman Sonja Bailes tells The Times that the bus carried 34 students.
