LOXLEY, Ala. — One person died and as many as 45 people were injured after a school charter bus flipped over while driving back to Texas from Florida.
Dallas News reported that the bus was bringing band students back to Channelview from a trip to Walt Disney World when it flipped over on the highway and plunged into a ravine.

Officials said multiple medical helicopters and ambulances transported the passengers to 10 different hospitals. One person was reported in critical condition, five were listed in serious condition and the others had minor injuries.
“A charter bus transporting Channelview High School band students was involved in an accident on Interstate 10 in Alabama early this morning,” school district officials said. “At this time, details are limited. We are in contact with law enforcement in Alabama trying to obtain further information.”

Associated Press reported that first responders rappelled down the 50-foot ravine to rescue the students and chaperones, and some victims had to be cut free from the bus, according to County Sheriff Huey Hoss Mack.
