HINDS COUNTY, Miss. — An off-duty EMT rescued a woman from a burning car after she crashed into the back of a propane truck.
WAPT reported that EMT Jim White witnessed a woman swerve her car in an attempt to avoid hitting the truck. She instead hit the back of the truck, causing her car to catch fire.
White jumped into action and pulled the driver to safety.
“She tried to go around him but she ran into the gas truck and it immediately caught on fire. We ran to her, got her out of the car, stabilized her and moved her away from the vehicle,” White said.
Deputies were able to contain the fire with extinguishers until firefighters arrived, and the woman was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
