Pa. ambulance co. founder jailed for Medicare fraud

In addition to 64 months in prison, she is to pay over $2M in restitution

PHILADELPHIA — Another Philadelphia ambulance company executive received a prison sentence this week as the federal government continues cracking down on Medicare fraud by medical transportation providers.

During the past four years, federal authorities have charged eight Philadelphia-area ambulance companies with filing fraudulent claims that have cost the Medicare program more than $18 million.

Feda Kuran, 39, of Philadelphia,, was sentenced Wednesday to 64 months in prison after pleading guilty in April to health care fraud and paying kickbacks in violation of the federal Anti-Kickback Act.
