LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — An FDNY EMT was arrested and accused of killing a teen in a hit-and-run crash after a fender bender incident.

NY Daily News reported that Daniel Coppolo allegedly ran over Taranjit Parmar at a gas station and fled the scene on Nov. 9, according to police.

Police said Parmar, 18, was on her way home when Coppolo hit the side of her vehicle with his truck. The two pulled into a gas station, but Coppolo slammed on the gas when Parmar got out to check the damage.

Coppolo’s truck allegedly dragged Parmar for several feet before his rear tire ran her over. He was arrested for manslaughter six weeks later, and also faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident, tampering with physical evidence and reckless endangerment.

Coppolo’s lawyer, Lawrence Carra, said he has yet to see any credible evidence that it was Coppolo who was driving the truck. At the time of the crash, Coppolo had been on medical leave from work for several months and also has a history of mental illness.
