BALTIMORE — An ex-firefighter accused of killing a volunteer firefighter was deemed a “danger to the public” after facing a judge for the first time.

WBALTV reported that Daniel Greene, who was arrested for the murder of Jon Hickey, faces 11 charges, including first-degree murder.

Prosecutor David Chiu said Greene, who is now self-employed and married with two children, killed Hickey as a result of a love triangle. Chiu added that Greene “was the only person seen on videotape entering his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend’s residence.”

Chiu said Hickey was “executed” and that “he was shot once in the head while lying on the sofa.”

Greene’s wife claimed that he was actually in bed next to her at the time this crime happened, according to Greene’s lawyer, Singleton Mathews.

Mathews added that Greene’s vehicle GPS shows that he never drove to the area and has never been there in his life.

“At this point, there has not been anything produced – shoes, any fingerprints, hair, DNA – that would show that Mr. Greene has ever been to Fells Point,” Mathews said. “He has no criminal record. He’s had no contact with the criminal justice system. He doesn’t even have a traffic ticket.”
