An eight-year-old boy lay near death and bleeding on the side of Highway 410 in Brampton yesterday morning after the school bus he was riding in collided with a tractor-trailer and crashed into a median strip.
Beside him, off-duty paramedic Patrick Forgie knelt in the mud, pushing air into the unconscious boy’s lungs.
The bus, carrying a Grade 4 class on an excursion from St. Alfred Catholic School in Mississauga, hit the grassy area at 9:30 a.m., sending the small bodies of 27 elementary pupils flying throughout the bus carriage. ...
