Cat rescue
This is a picture of a “patient"— our lovely feline — with my partner and I circa 1992. At that time the EMS service in San Francisco was in the Department of Public Health, and there were probably 8 medic units in service at the time. If I remember correctly there was some type of house fire and as a matter of course we were dispatched for a stand by. While no one was injured during the fire, we did have one “patient”. Based on the drenched appearance and somewhat indignant look, I would guess that we had provided a bit of pre-veterinary care prior to the photo being taken.
I really like this photo (I’m the one on the left) because it reminds me of some of the non-dramatic, yet non-routine things we do in our jobs — and what makes it all the more thrilling, without the glamour.
