AUBURN, Calif. — Paramedics have it hard enough. Ambulance driving, a dangerous job that includes traffic hazards, crime scenes, and those who want to steal their drugs. What happened to one paramedic in Auburn is not something you would expect.
Last week, a paramedic was sitting on the back of his ambulance in a bowling alley parking lot when police say a man walked out from a bar, drunk and stumbling. Investigators identified Adrian Segura as the man that came out of the bar. Segura approached the paramedic who told him to go home. That’s when the man grabbed the paramedic in the groin, twice, and offered sexual acts. The paramedic punched Segura in face and held him the ground before he was taken to the hospital. He was arrested on charges of assaulting a paramedic, a felony, as well as public drunkenness.
“They go out every day and put their lives on the lifer every day,” said Jason Sorrick of American Medical Response. ...
