Tractor-trailer collides with ambulance; 3 hurt

Two EMS providers suffered minor injuries and a third suffered serious injuries

TINTON FALLS, N.J. — A tractor-trailer collided with an ambulance Wednesday afternoon, injuring all three EMS providers on board.

Asbury Park Press reported that the impact tore a hole in the rear driver’s side of the MONOC ambulance and pulled apart the nose the rig’s cab. Three EMS providers on board the ambulance were injured. Two suffered minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to a hospital. A third, who was sitting the patient care compartment, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a trauma center.

All three EMS providers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, according to the report.

There were no patients on the ambulance, which was heading toward a call.

The crash is currently under investigation.
