FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A surveillance camera captured a coincidence that occurred when an ambulance just happened to be behind a vehicle when it crashed.

WANE reported that EMS provider Ryan Recker and his partner stopped immediately in their ambulance after seeing a driver hit a guard rail and crash into the water below.

“It was just kind of a crazy coincidence on a Sunday afternoon,” Recker said. “If we were, you know, five seconds past that area we wouldn’t have seen it.”

A surveillance camera at Ace Game Room Gallery captured the incident, and if you look closely you can see the ambulance right behind the car as the crash occurred.

Recker said coincidences like that don’t happen often.

“As far as to happen right in front of me, that’s pretty odd, but it does happen and thank goodness we were there to help out. Yesterday, really for me, highlighted again the paramedics out there 24/7 in the city and at TRAA doing an extremely good job taking care of us and we don’t realize it.”

The driver was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
