LONDON — A group of soccer fans stepped up to raise money for an ambulance that was damaged during World Cup celebrations.
ITV reported that a crowdsharing page on the website JustGiving.com has raised over $12,000 to help fix a London Ambulance Service vehicle that was damaged by fans who were celebrating England’s win over Sweden.
Photos of the celebration emerged on social media of fans standing on top of the ambulance, and LAS later released images of the damage, saying the incident was a “big dampener on the celebrations.”

“We’re delighted with the result, but this has put a big dampener on the celebrations for us: while our officer attended a call nearby, this car was damaged during the celebrations after the game, it’s now off the road to be repaired,” the agency said.
The JustGiving page was set up by the Millwall Supporters Club.
“At the Millwall Supporters Club we think it is very important to help our local community, so we want to help to raise funds to help with the repair of an emergency response vehicle that was damaged after the England v. Sweden game in the World Cup 2018 Quarter Final,” the group said in a statement.
“We are very grateful for any donations and support you can offer. If the insurance company pays for the repairs, all monies raised will be donated to the local ambulance service whose vehicle has sustained this damage.”
