HARTSVILLE, S.C. — An ambulance was stolen outside a hospital Wednesday night.
EMS providers were inside the Carolina Pines Hospital when someone stole the ambulance from the bay, WBTW.com reported. The person drove it seven to eight miles and left it on the side of the road.
County Administrator Charles Stewart said all Darlington County ambulances are equipped with tracking software. Officials were able to use the software to locate the stolen rig.
Thankfully, there was no significant damage to the ambulance; the ignition key was stolen.
The ambulance will undergo an evaluation and the agency is making new keys prior to placing it back into service.
