MARRERO, La. — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office responded Saturday afternoon to an ambulance in Marrero with its driver-side window shattered, possibly by a gunshot. No one was injured.

The West Jefferson Medical Center ambulance was heading north on Ames Boulevard just before 3:30 p.m. when its window was shattered by what is believed to have been a bullet, said Col. John Fortunato. No shell casings or bullets were found at the scene.

“They heard what they believed to be a gunshot,” Col. Fortunato said. “We were not able to locate any evidence of a shooting, but we are looking into the incident.”

Fortunato was unsure whether the ambulance was out on a call at the time or whether a patient was being transported. He said the ambulance was en route to Bridge City.

West Jefferson Medical Center did not immediately respond to a request for additional information.
