An EMS crew arrived quickly, and paramedics freed the driver and transported both crew members to Austin. The driver remains under care, while the passenger was released on Sept. 30.
Lee County EMS noted that the department will maintain normal operations as staff rally around their injured colleague. The medic faces a lengthy recovery but is expected to be fine, the service added.
