The ambulance had its lights and sirens on when the crash occurred

PERRY, Ga. — An ambulance collided with a U.S. Post Office mail truck this week, causing the mail truck to overturn, officials say.

Georgia State Police said the Houston Healthcare ambulance was en route to a call and had its lights and sirens activated when it struck the mail truck while trying to pass it, according to WGXA.

Georgia Trooper Mark Smith said the mail truck reportedly slowed down and appeared as though it was going to yield, but then made a left turn as the ambulance attempted to pass. The rig struck the right corner of the truck, causing it to spin and flip on its side.

Smith said minor injuries were reported but did not say how many people from each vehicle were injured.
