KING GEORGE COUNTY, Va. — Police are investigating whether or not an ambulance that ran a red light and crashed into two other vehicles, resulting in the death of a driver, had its lights and sirens on at the time of the incident.

Police initially said Westmoreland County EMS provider William Watson drove the ambulance into an intersection and ran through a red light while transporting a patient with the rig’s emergency lights and sirens activated, Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.

The ambulance struck two vehicles, killing one of the vehicle’s drivers, Margaretta Davis, and seriously injuring a passenger of one of the other vehicles.

An updated police report Thursday said an investigation into whether or not the lights and sirens were activated is still ongoing.

Police said charges are pending in the crash, and are asking for help from anyone who might have information about the incident.
