MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — An ambulance crashed and rolled down an embankment off Route 33 early Thursday in Monroe County, a dispatch supervisor said.

The vehicle from West End Community Ambulance rolled over around 2:30 a.m. on Route 33 southbound at mile marker 25.8 near the Snydersville exit in Hamilton Township, the dispatcher confirmed.

A heavy storm was moving through the area at the time.

A photographer at the scene said emergency crews treated three patients, with at least one transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono.

State police responded to the scene but have not confirmed how many people were involved in the crash or the extent of their injuries.

The West End Community Ambulance is based in Effort.

The ambulance was towed and the road reopened just after 4 a.m.
