MANCHESTER, N.H. — Two paramedics on a call were injured Sunday after a vehicle crashed into their ambulance.

Officials say the vehicle ran a red light before striking the ambulance. The AMR paramedics were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No patients were being transported at the time of the crash.

District Fire Chief Mike Gamache said the paramedics were responding to a report for someone in need of help, and had a green light at the intersection where the crash occurred.

“They didn’t have their lights and sirens on,”Gamache told the Union Leader. “They were looking for a mobile person, a person reported in distress in the neighborhood.”

Manuel Castellanos, 24, initially fled the scene but was apprehended and taken into custody by police.
