PITTSBURGH — Police said a 10-year-old boy called 911 when he found his mother and grandmother overdosed on heroin while they were supposed to be watching him.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that Kristin Garrett, 32, and Janet Garrett, 72, were at the home with the boy and his 4-year-old sister when they overdosed, according to police.
The boy called 911 after running to a neighbor’s house when he found the two lying unconscious on the living room floor.
Paramedics administered naloxone to both women. The women were transported to the hospital, and police said the father took custody of the two children. He said that the two women were using heroin and he had been afraid to go to work.
Kristin and Janet Garrett were both charged with endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.
