Video: Police dept. creates Jimmy Kimmel-themed 911 PSA

San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus read real 911 calls in the style of Jimmy Kimmel’s “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets”

SAN ANTONIO — A police department’s PSA about calling 911 featured the police chief taking a page from Jimmy Kimmel’s book to remind the public what the emergency number is not for.

In the video posted on Facebook, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus uses the style of Jimmy Kimmel’s “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets” to read actual 911 calls that should not have occurred.

“Hi can you come help, I’m stuck on a carnival ride and the girl behind me is puking,” Chief McManus reads before adding, “Really, dude? I hope that wasn’t a first date but it definitely wasn’t a reason to call 911.”

Calling 911 is serious business, but these calls— not so much! 911 receives millions of calls each year. Don’t tie up call-takers with non-emergencies.
