2 killed, 1 hurt in Norwegian Air Ambulance crash

The helicopter crashed en route to the scene of an accident when landing near a main highway where a truck had overturned

STAVANGER, Norway — Norwegian rescue officials say that an ambulance helicopter has crashed en route to the scene of a road accident, killing two people on board.

The Norwegian Air Ambulance service says the accident occurred about 25 kilometers (15 miles) west of the capital Oslo, when one of its helicopters was landing near a main highway where a truck had overturned.

Regional police in Buskerud said that a third person was injured in the accident on Tuesday morning and was flown to a hospital in Oslo.

Rescue officials and police are investigating the cause of the crash.
