Scotland: ‘No go’ areas for ambulances criticized

Addresses red-flagged due to previous threats or attacks; crews must wait for police before entering

SCOTLAND, U.K. — Hundreds of addresses have been identified as “no-go areas” for ambulance workers, meaning they have to wait for police protection before entering.

Figures obtained by the Scottish Conservatives have revealed 437 addresses which have been “red flagged” due to previous negative experiences where emergency workers have been attacked or threatened.

Conservative justice spokesman David McLetchie said: “It is a disgraceful state of affairs when ambulance workers who dedicate their working lives to helping people cannot enter so many homes for fear of their own safety. Every employee has the right to work without fear of attack.”
