MIDDLETOWN, Ky. — As a Louisville Metro EMS paramedic recovers in the hospital, the search for the man who stabbed him in the stomach continues.

Around 8:40 p.m. Thursday, the paramedic was loading his ambulance behind St. Mary’s Center in Middletown when a stranger approached him and asked for money. The paramedic, only identified as being a man in his 20’s, said he did not have any money to give him. EMS officials tell WAVE 3 that the stranger then stabbed the paramedic in his lower abdomen. Fellow EMS crews rushed the injured paramedic to University Hospital. At last report, he is in stable condition.

Although Louisville Metro Police continue their investigation into what they believe is an attempted robbery, Sgt. Mike Shugart says there is little information about the suspect.
