BOSTON — Boston EMS crews rescued an injured construction worker from beneath the Longfellow Bridge yesterday, an emergency official said.
The worker was installing rubberized material used for waterproofing when it tumbled on to him, striking and injuring him, the official said. The worker was hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds.
In order to rescue him, crews had to crawl onto a platform beneath the bridge and carry him out. During the rescue, state police positioned one of their harbor boats beneath the bridge and Boston firefighters assisted as well.
