The U.K has granted emergency approval to Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine, allowing its health service to begin mass inoculations.
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), a federal group of medical and public health experts, holds regular meetings, open to public comment. The CDC is making COVID-19 vaccine recommendations based on input from the ACIP, which has identified four ethical principles to guide vaccine administration if supply is limited:
- Maximize benefits and minimize harms
- Mitigate health inequities
- Promote justice
- Promote transparency
