FORT WORTH, Texas — A fan was injured when he fell about 12 feet from the stands at AT&T Stadium in Arlington during Saturday night’s college football game between the University of Texas and UCLA.
WFAA/Channel 8 reported that he fell from Section 100 to the field-level suites.
The fan, who was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, was conscious and talking to first responders, an assistant Arlington fire chief.
An Arlington Fire Department spokesman told WFAA that the fall was under investigation.
It’s the latest fall at an Arlington sports venue. In August 2011, a man was injured when he fell down a flight of stairs near the home plate entrance at what is now Globe Life Park.
On July 7 that year, Brownwood firefighter Shannon Stone died after falling about 20 feet while trying to catch a foul ball from outfielder Josh Hamilton. Stone was initially conscious and talking to first responders but died on the way to the hospital.
The Rangers raised the railings from 34 to 42 inches after that accident.
In 2010, a 25-year-old Rio Vista man fell about 30 feet from the upper deck while trying to catch a foul ball and suffered a fractured skull and sprained ankle but survived.
